Service Description

Hydrotherapy is MUCH more than swimming - it's an entire physiotherapeutic treatment in itself when performed by a qualified Physio. In fact, paddling & wading in shallow water can be better for your dog than swimming. The Physio will put a lifejacket on your dog for safety and will use the buoyancy & resistance of water to strengthen your dog, increase their flexibility, burn calories and increase their cardiovascular fitness. It's also great fun! Toys, floats and games are used to get the dog moving in a safe & gentle way. Perfect for dogs who are showing their age, slowing down or not being as active as they once were. It's also great for dogs who need to lose or maintain weight, and it helps take pressure off their joints to allow greater freedom of movement. Great for Dogs who: - like paddling or swimming the water (or at least they don't dislike it!) - would benefit from more exercise (most dogs!) - need to control their weight - are getting a bit stiff and slowing down with age or inactivity - getting fit again after recovery from injury or surgery - healthy but want to improve performance in Sports such as Agility & Flyball. Did you know that wading through chest-high water is equivalent to 10 times the distance travelled on land?? So if your dog wades through water for 10 metres, they've done the equivalent of 100 metres of walking on dry land? Hydrotherapy is NOT great for dogs who: - don't like water - the Physio will never force a dog in to the water if they're scared or anxious of it. - have open wounds - have skin conditions that are negatively affected by sea water - have skin infections - are immunocompromised e.g. having chemotherapy - have got pain or limping but haven't seen a Vet yet - have got any ear infection(s) - are scared of other dogs running around on the dog beach (unfortunately the Physio can't control other what people's dogs are doing) - are feeling under the weather or unwell with an infection e.g. a UTI - the Vet has advised against it (the Physio will never go against Vet advice). If you're unsure if this is a good option for your dog, please contact us and we'll help you decide. If Hydro isn't the best idea, we can arrange a physiotherapy consultation or suggest a DogFitness Class. On Booking you'll need to answer some questions so we can make sure we have all the information we need to make the session safe for your dog. Occasionally the Physio may suggest an individual consultation out of the water first.

Cancellation Policy

Home Visits; A $60 deposit is required on bookings and is deducted from the total charge at the end of the visit. If you cancel the appointment with less than 24 hours to go before the appointment time, this is non-refundable (except in circumstances in which the physiotherapist judges it should be waived). In the unlikely event the physiotherapist cancels your appointment, you can either transfer the $60 to a rearranged appointment time, or you can ask for it to be refunded to you. Refunds take the number of days stated by Square Payments Terms & Conditions and this time is out of our control. Class Bookings: Payment is due at the time of booking. If you need to cancel more than 24 hours ahead of the class start time, you can transfer the amount to pay for another class, or you can use the amount as part payment towards an individual consultation with the physiotherapist. If you need to cancel less than 24 hours ahead of the class, please call the physiotherapist on 0457 877321 who will discuss options with you. Online Consultations: A $50 deposit is required on bookings and is deducted from the total charge at the end of the visit. If you cancel the appointment with less than 24 hours to go before the appointment time, this is non-refundable (except in circumstances in which the physiotherapist judges it should be waived). If the physiotherapist cancels your appointment, you can either transfer the $50 to a rearranged appointment time, or you can ask for it to be refunded to you. Refunds take the number of days stated by Square Payments terms & conditions and are out of our control. Hydrotherapy at the Beach: Payment is due at time of booking. If you need to cancel, please give as much notice as possible. Your payment may be transferred to another session, or may be refunded depending on reasons for short notice cancellation. The Physiotherapist may postpone or cancel the session in the event of bad weather, storms or king tide with as much notice as possible and you will NOT be charged - you can choose to have a refund via Square or transfer the money to another session. The session fee is still chargeable if your dog refuses to go in the water, or needs to be removed from the water before the end of the session for any reason. It is likely that Physiotherapy can continue on the beach, even if your dog can't or won't go in the water. It is sometimes necessary to bring the dog out of the water for a rest or time to warm up part-way through.
