What is physio for dogs?

Dog physiotherapy is similar to physiotherapy for children; we aim to get your dog feeling better ASAP with creative playful techniques. We work hard to make the sessions fun, relaxing & interactive. Most dog parents tell us their dog sleeps well after physio, and we all know a tired dog is a happy dog!
Canine Physiotherapy is performed by an animal or canine physiotherapist with a degree in human physiotherapy, who has also undergone several years of post-graduate training & experience in animal physiotherapy & Vet Clinics. Having been trained in Hospitals, working closely with Doctors, Surgeons, and understanding "red flags", your pet is safe with our Physiotherapist.
Physio for dogs is GENTLE and helps your dog with;
- Back problems & spinal injuries
- Pain management
- Nerve, brain & coordination conditions
- Rehabilitation before & after surgery
- Fitness, strength & flexibility
- Avoiding injuries happening
- Helping prevent arthritis
- Weight management
- Improving performance for sporting dogs
We're the equivalent of an animal chiropractor or animal osteopath, however we also have training & experience in medical environments.
Importantly, your dog is never forced to do anything.
We do NOT subscribe to "no pain, no gain".
For us, dog physio is FEAR FREE, PAIN FREE.
Your furbaby is precious and we'll treat them like our own.
We are qualified to use methods such as;
- Massage & manual therapies such as myofascial release, manipulation & T-Touch
- LASER treatment (Class 4)
- Acupuncture & dry needling
- Kinesiotaping
- PEMF treatment
- Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Re-education
- TENS & Electromuscular stimulation
- Hydrotherapy
- Conditioning & Rehabilitation programs
- Chest Physiotherapy
- Cardiorespiratory Rehabilitation
- Palliative Care comfort & pain management

Our qualified experienced physiotherapist Emma Duffy is super passionate about advocating for our pets who can't speak for themselves. Emma's mantra is "kindness always", and once Emma is confident that any pain has been identified & managed, she uses a holistic approach to getting your dog's mojo back.
Emma works closely with your Vet, Specialist, Vet Behaviourist or any other professionals involved to make sure your dog's physiotherapy is complementing & integrating with their veterinary care. She has good professional relationships with many Sydney Vets, Specialists & qualified colleagues in the field.

Emma Duffy (BSc.Hons Physiotherapy) qualified as a physiotherapist in the UK over 20 years ago, working in Hospitals & clinics while she also studied acupuncture & canine physiotherapy.
Since moving to Australia 10 years ago, she has continued post-graduate studies in animal physiotherapy, and was fortunate to work with & be mentored by Dr Helen Nicholson (PhD Animal Physiotherapy) at Whole Family Health in St Mary's for 2.5 years.
